Now forming · Dallas–Fort Worth, Texas The Iron Project logo — an IP monogram with a cross, over the words Mentorship, Athletics, Faith, Leadership. Proverbs 27:17. Sharpening boys. Building men.

A Christian mentorship movement for middle-school boys — pairing them with vetted, godly men who coach their soccer teams, know their names, and show up week after week.

The Mission

Boys become the men they spend time around.

The middle-school years are when a boy quietly decides what kind of man he will be — and too many of them are making that decision without a steady, godly man in their corner.

The Iron Project puts positive male role models directly into a boy's weekly rhythm. Not a lecture. Not a one-off event. A coach who learns his name, expects something of him, and models — on the pitch and off it — what faith, discipline, and character actually look like.

We are a Christian ministry in formation in Dallas–Fort Worth, building our founding roster of mentors now. Our first sport will be soccer.

What We're Built On

Four pillars. One boy at a time.

Every practice, huddle, and service project runs on the same four commitments. Select a pillar to see how it takes shape.

Known by name, week after week

Mentorship is the engine of everything we do.

Each boy is matched with a coach-mentor who commits to a full season — practices, games, and the ordinary moments in between. Small rosters keep groups tight enough that no boy is invisible, and mentors check in beyond the field: school, home, and the stuff a twelve-year-old won't bring up on his own.

“Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.” 1 Corinthians 11:1

The Model

Sports is the vessel. Character is the cargo.

Boys bond shoulder-to-shoulder, not face-to-face. A season of practices and games gives a mentor something sermons can't: dozens of natural moments — a hard loss, a bad call, a teammate who needs picking up — where character gets built in real time.

I

Show Up

Weekly practices anchor the rhythm. Consistency is the curriculum — a man who is simply there, every week, on time, saying what he means.

II

Suit Up

Real teams, real games, real stakes. Boys learn to compete hard, lose with grace, win with humility, and put the team ahead of themselves.

III

Huddle Up

Every week closes with a short team huddle — Scripture, one honest conversation, and older boys gradually leading it themselves.

Who It's For

Aimed at the years that aim a life.

We start where the need is sharpest and the window is widest: boys in the middle-school years, right here in Dallas–Fort Worth.

Grades 6–8

Middle school is the hinge — old enough to choose a direction, young enough for the right man's voice to still carry weight.

Dallas–Fort Worth

We're building locally first: neighborhood teams, local churches and schools, mentors who live where the boys live.

Every boy, any background

Church kids and kids who've never darkened a church door train side by side. The standard is the same; the welcome is wide.

For Mentors

The job is simple. The standard is not.

We're recruiting founding mentors now — men willing to give one season of practices and games, and to be the kind of man a boy can safely copy.

  • —
Show up, all season. Reliability is the first lesson every boy learns from you.
  • —
Pass a full background check. Every mentor is screened and reference-checked before he meets a single boy. No exceptions.
  • —
Never alone, always accountable. Two-adult standards at every practice, game, and conversation — for the boys' protection and yours.
  • —
Train before you coach. Founding mentors complete orientation on the model, the faith foundation, and child-safety practice.

Questions

Before you ask

We're in the formation stage now — organizing as a Texas nonprofit, building the founding mentor roster, and lining up our first season. Join the interest list below and you'll be the first to hear dates, sports, and sign-up details as they're set.

Neither. Sports is the setting, not the entrance exam; beginners are as welcome as travel-ball kids. And while The Iron Project is openly Christian — mentors lead from their faith — boys from any background, or none, are welcome on the roster.

Yes. Head coaches handle the X's and O's; what we need from every mentor is character, consistency, and a real faith. If you can show up weekly and be worth imitating, we can teach you the rest in orientation.

Every mentor completes a full background check and reference checks, interviews with our leadership, and finishes child-safety training before working with boys. We also operate under a strict two-adult rule — no mentor is ever alone with a boy.

We're looking for founding partners — churches and schools willing to host teams, lend fields and gyms, and help recruit mentors. Reach out through the Partner path below and we'll start the conversation.
